NWA Executive Board Member: Sharon
Moss
Sharon is the wife of State School Board Member
and contractor, Richard Moss, and the mother of three children:
Lauren 17, Garrett 15, and Jacob 13. She was born in New York,
spent her early childhood in Virginia, but grew up primarily
in Texas. She enjoys spending time with her very active family,
scrap-booking and reading.
Sharon has taught school in the private sector
for seven years where she developed a passion for learning
and teaching. It was through these experiences that she became
inspired by the idea of founding a quality Charter School
available to all children, regardless of family demographics,
where fundamental principles are restored, the interest and
curiosity of each child is ignited and an environment is fostered
where each child develops a lifelong love of learning, leadership
and service.
Noah Webster Academy is the result of that
dream. |

NWA Executive Board Member: Peter Tennis
Peter has an insatiable passion for learning
and leadership, on both a personal and organizational level.
Born and raised in Seattle, Peter was fortunate enough to
learn the early lessons of leadership on self and groups while
exploring wilderness and traveling the continent on amateur
ice hockey teams.
After service to both country and church, He
began what he considers his greatest role in life and his
truest purpose: that of Husband and Father. Peter and Teresa
Tennis are the parents of three children, one of whom is currently
a scholar at Noah Webster Academy.
Peter is an expert at creating systems and processes
that allow organizations to increase their performance and
competitiveness within their marketplace or sphere of influence.
He has spent the majority of his adult life working to improve
some of the world's largest companies, as well as many smaller
businesses and organizations. He is an advisor and friend
to top leadership teams in the pursuit of greatness, and his
ideas have been implemented and are in use in many of the
Fortune 500 and countless small businesses throughout the
world.
Peter and his family currently reside in Orem.
When he is not spending time with his family, planning Scout
activities, reading or writing, or playing in the mountains,
he runs his own practice helping both for-profit and non-profit
organizations reach the next level.
Peter is excited to unite scholars, parents,
teachers, administrators and community members, and fulfill
the Purpose, Mission and Charter of Noah Webster Academy. |

NWA Board Member: Brad Daw
Brad Daw was born in Provo on February 7, 1963.
He developed a love of
reading at the tender age of three. After several readings
of "The Three
Billy Goats Gruff" to Brad, his father tired of reading
the same book and
told Brad to read the book himself. His father had the book
open and Brad
recited all the words on the first page. Dad, momentarily
surprised,
paused for a few seconds then turned the page. Brad continued
reciting,
always sure of when to pause and let his father turn the page.
He didn't
actually learn the alphabet until he was five, but he was
always good at
memorizing. In the fourth grade, Brad won second prize for
most number of
books read in the class. The prize was a copy of "Where
the Red Fern
Grows" by Wilson Rawls. This beloved, well worn novel
still sits on the
family bookshelf today.
In 1981, Brad graduated from Shelley High School
in (you guessed it)
Shelley, Idaho. He served a mission in Southern Florida from
1982 to
1983. Brad attended BYU, majored in Electrical Engineering,
and graduated
in 1987. He took his first job as an engineer in Sunnyvale,
California.
Brad was married to Laura Olsen on March 14, 1989. In 1991,
Brad and Laura
brought their first child, Sara, into the world. In the fall
of 1992 Brad
moved his family to Utah to take a job with WordPerfect. While
living in
Utah, they were blessed with four more children: Jessica,
Sam, Matthew,
and Jackson.
Brad got involved in politics when he attended
his first precinct caucus
meeting in 1994 and was elected precinct chair. He is currently
serving in
the Utah State Legislature as a State Representative.
Brad and his wife have three sons in Noah Webster
Academy and is looking
forward to being a part of this great institution. |

NWA Board Member: Kevin Wilson
Kevin attended elementary school in Missouri before moving to Wyoming where he finished his elementary and secondary educations. He enjoyed his educational upbringing and learned a great deal about the qualities that make for a positive scholastic experience. He graduated from the University of Wyoming and after working in Colorado moved to Utah where he received an MBA from Brigham Young University.
Kevin works for a holding company whose main operating business, Warmzone, is one of the nation’s largest resellers of electric radiant heating systems. In his role he has responsibilities overseeing the finances and operations of the company. Previously he worked for Gateway Computers, Novell and GMAC.
Kevin and Andrea Wilson have 5 children with 3 sons currently attending Noah Webster Academy and 2 daughters to follow. Andrea spends several hours a week at the school, knows many of the educators and is intimately involved in their children’s education. They enjoy taking advantage of the outdoor opportunities in the area and participating in and attending athletic events.
Kevin believes as Noah Webster wrote in 1828 that “the education of youth should be watched with the most scrupulous attention. It is much easier to introduce and establish an effectual system…than to correct by penal statutes the ill effects of a bad system. The education of youth…lays the foundations on which both law and gospel rest for success” and is looking forward to working with Noah Webster Academy as they continue to fulfill their mission, values and charter.

NWA Director: Rick Kempton
Rick grew
up on a cotton farm in southeast Arizona. He has a Masters
Degree in Educational Administration and began his education
career as the director of a Bi-lingual, Bi-cultural and Adult
Basic Education program for a school district just west of
Phoenix, Arizona. He then moved to the Davis School District
and taught at Clearfield and South Weber Elementary Schools.
He was also the director of the South Weber Community School
and the town’s summer Recreation Director.
He then left the elementary school environment
and spent time at IBM, WordPerfect, Novell, and other companies
where he focused on education and training. Being raised in
a small farming community, along with spending time in various
states (Arizona, Utah, Maryland, California, North Carolina,
and Texas) and living outside the United States (Mexico and
Germany), has helped him develop a deep sense of patriotism
and a love for this wonderful country and the values it was
founded upon. He feels that these various experiences, built
upon his love of education which was founded in his elementary
classroom experiences give him a unique perspective for the
Noah Webster Academy teachers, scholars, and community.
Rick enjoys being involved in his community
(especially young people), and also enjoys participating in
tennis, golf, hiking and traveling. He and his wife, Joan,
are the proud parents of five children.
Rick is committed to find and give professional
development opportunities to the best teachers available that
they will, in turn, inspire the scholars that come through
the doors of Noah Webster Academy with a lifelong love of
learning, leadership, and service. |
