Noah Webster Academy’s Acceptable Use of Electronic Networks Policy
Ownership of the Chromebook
Noah Webster Academy retains sole right of possession of the Chromebook. The Chromebooks are lent to the scholars for educational purposes only for the academic year. The use of the Chromebook is a privilege not a right for the scholars. Moreover, Noah Webster Academy’s administrative staff and faculty retain the right to collect and/or inspect Chromebooks at any time, including via electronic remote access and to alter, add or delete installed software or hardware.
Responsibility for the Chromebook
Scholars are solely responsible for the Chromebooks issued to them and must adhere to the following:
● Scholars must treat their device with care and never leave it in an unsecured location.
● Scholars must keep their device in the classroom cart when not in use.
●Scholars should not use the Chromebooks outside the classroom without teacher’s permission.
●Scholars must promptly report any problems with their Chromebook to the school designated staff member.
●Scholars may not remove or interfere with the serial number and other identification tags.
●Scholars may not attempt to remove or change the physical structure of the Chromebook, including the keys, screen cover or plastic casing.
●Scholars may not attempt to install or run any programs, apps, or extensions.
●Scholars must keep their device clean and must not touch the screen with any hard object (e.g. pen, pencil, etc.) other than approved computer screen cleaners.
Responsibility for Electronic Data
The scholars are not allowed to install any apps or extensions on their Chromebooks that are not installed by a member of the Noah Webster Academy’s technology staff. Scholars are also forbidden from altering settings unless instructed by their teacher to do so. Scholars are responsible for saving their documents online to protect from loss. Users of Noah Webster Academy’s technology have no rights, ownership, or expectations of privacy to any data that is, or was, stored on the Chromebook, school network, or any school-issued applications and are given no guarantees that data will be retained or destroyed. Any programs (e.g. Google Drive, Microsoft Office, etc) are solely for school assignments. Scholars may not share documents unless it is a school project.
