Noah Webster (1758 –1843) has been called the "Father of American Education". His blue-backed speller books taught five generations of American children how to spell and read. Webster's name has become synonymous with "dictionary" in the United States, especially the Merriam-Webster dictionary that was first published in 1828. He is considered one of the Founding Fathers of the nation.
A charter school is a tuition-free, publicly funded school that is started by parents, teachers, and/or community members. Charter schools give parents a choice in how their children are educated. Charter schools meet all State Requirements but have the autonomy to choose the programs that best meet the needs of their students. Noah Webster Academy was the first charter school in Orem, Utah.
As a public school, Noah Webster does not charge tuition. As an elementary school there are no required school fees.
Noah Webster Academy has a Common Dress Policy. The dress code is simple, easy, and keeps the focus on education. Uniforms are to be worn during school hours, except under special circumstances as announced by the school, such as spirit days. School sponsored t-shirts may be worn on Fridays.
Noah Webster Academy has a certified teacher and teaching assistant in each classroom. NWA limits enrollment to 25 students per class. Math and reading are taught in smaller "ability groups."
Meet our Homeroom Teachers
Our goal at Noah Webster is to have each scholar at mastery. Upon entering Noah Webster Academy, scholars are assessed and placed at their academic level, not grade level, for reading and math. Ability groups allow advanced learners to be challenged and those that are struggling to receive more individual attention. Ability groups are monitored weekly to ensure each child is in the appropriate class and adjustments are made as needed.
Our Special Education Team, known as our Dream Team, works daily with our scholars with Individualized Education Programs (IEP) to meet their goals and so much more. We meet annually as an IEP team (or more often if needed) of parents, teachers, SpEd team, and school director to discuss the needs and goals of the child. Our Special Education Department consists of a Director, Teacher, Paraeducators, Speech Language Pathologist & Technician, Occupational Therapist, and Physical Therapist.
School begins at 8:15 am and ends at 2:45 pm. Noah Webster has “early out” on Fridays and scholars are released at 1pm. Noah Webster’s calendar closely follows Alpine School District. Noah Webster Academy has a full-service cafeteria that serves a nutritious breakfast and lunch five days a week. Scholars may choose lunch which consists of a hot item, sandwich, or salad bar. All scholars choose the fruits and vegetables they would like from our salad bar*. Families that meet certain income requirements may qualify for free/reduced price meals. Noah Webster is proud to offer a variety of school clubs. Clubs meet before and after school, Monday-Thursday. We are grateful for the teachers and parent volunteers who donate their time and talents for our scholars. Click here for a current list of clubs being offered.
We encourage families to volunteer! Parents/guardians may volunteer in the classroom, on field trips, or as needed by teachers. The volunteers of Noah Webster Academy make what we do possible. Noah Webster does not provide bus service. Families may either use carpool to pick-up their scholars, or make arrangements for scholars to walk or bike home. Click here to read more about carpool procedures.
