School districts and charter schools are required by Utah law, 53A1a-704(10), to inform parents of students with IEPs enrolled in public schools, of the availability of a scholarship to attend a private school through the Carson Smith Scholarship Program.
Every child is entitled to a public education regardless of disability. Children with disabilities may go without services because families are not fully aware of their entitlement. If you know of a child, birth to age 22, who is not receiving any education services or feel that your child is in need of additional services, speak to your child’s classroom teacher or contact the Special Education Department at 801-426-6624.
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. § 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99) is a Federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. The law applies to all schools that receive funds under an applicable program of the U.S. Department of Education.

Noah Webster Academy (NWA) is committed to creating and maintaining an environment free of discrimination, harassment, bullying and retaliation that are unlawful and/or prohibited by NWA. NWA prohibits discrimination, including harassment and retaliation, by NWA employees, students, contractors, or agents of NWA and by anyone participating in an NWA sponsored activity against an individual based on a protected classification. Protected classification includes race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or other protected category.

The GOVERNING BOARD promotes the school's mission, vision and philosophy as outlined in the charter. They are the "keepers of the flame" regarding the school's mission and vision, as outlined in our charter. The board consists of 7-11 members, including the Parent Organization President. Board members are nominated by parents or guardians of current NWA scholars and chosen by the board from parent and community members. The board delegates operational and administrative responsibility for the school to the school's Director while retaining the the governance of the school and the responsibility to oversee the vision and policies of Noah Webster Academy. The Director serves as an adviser to the board.
The ADMINISTRATIVE TEAM is composed of the Director, Academic Coordinator, and Business Manager.
The MANAGING DIRECTOR manages the school's daily operations, with the assistance of the Academic Coordinator as well as the Business Manager. The Director is subject to policy defined by the Governing Board.
The ACADEMIC COORDINATOR oversees the academic and character growth of each scholar, teacher, and teaching assistants at the school.
The BUSINESS MANAGER ensures that school operations and facilities are safe and are both effective and efficient.
The PARENT ORGANIZATION is comprised of all parents whose children are attending Noah Webster Academy. A president is elected each year by the parent members and various committees are organized and consist of parent volunteers to perform the functions of the organization. The main purpose of this organization is to involve parents in the school and to foster a positive Noah Webster Academy 'family culture.' The Parent Organization President is a member of the Board of Trustees.
SCHOLAR COUNCIL is comprised of 3rd through 6th grade scholars. These scholars are elected by the scholar body. Their responsibilities include representing the school, guiding school tours, planning Spirit Days for the year, helping with the yearbook, morning announcements, Friday Morning Meetings, Penny Wars, and other activities.
For suspected fraud, waste, abuse, or noncompliance with state or federal guidelines, please contact the Governing Board via fraud@mynwa.us.

NWA will take prompt and appropriate action to thoroughly investigate complaints under this policy, and prevent, correct and, if necessary, discipline individuals who engage in behavior that violates this policy in accordance with NWA policies. All members of the NWA community are responsible for participating in creating an environment free from all forms of prohibited discrimination and bullying and for cooperating with NWA officials who investigate allegations of policy violations.
Parent Scholar Handbook - updated 2023
The Parent/Scholar Handbook is a valuable resource to our parents and has been designed to provide a summary of the parent organizations and guidelines for enrollment, immunizations, attendance, conduct and discipline, the common dress code, carpool guidelines, school hours, extended family vacations, family death or illness, lost and found, the school lunch policy, recess, toys and personal items policy, library and internet use, field trips, snow days, emergency drills, parent/teacher conferences, student medications, the behavior management program, and discipline procedures. The school compact includes what we as a school and staff promise to do while your child is enrolled at our school. The parent and scholar compacts include what we would like each parent and scholar to do to come prepared and ready to learn and interact with others in a positive manner.
Assessments are administered at NWA as mandated by the USBE. The mission of the Utah State Board of Education department of Assessment is to “...to serve the public by providing measurable information about Utah students' core knowledge, skills, and abilities; acquired through high quality valid and reliable assessments.”
Student Success Framework
Pursuant to UCA 53G-7-1304, Noah Webster Academy’s Governing Board adopts the following framework to provide guidelines and processes for the development of Teacher and Student Success Plans. Administration will develop an annual plan in accordance with this framework and submit annually to Board for approval. Each plan will be developed by integrating school-specific goals and criteria for improving the schools’ performance within the state accountability system.
The goal of each school’s individual plan shall be to improve school performance and student academic achievement. Each plan may contain any of the following strategies:
school personnel stipends for taking on additional responsibility outside of a typical work assignment;professional learning;additional school employees, including counselors, social workers, mental health workers, media specialists, information technology specialists, or other specialists;technology;before- or after-school programs;summer school programs;community support programs or partnerships;early childhood education;class size reduction strategies;augmentation of existing programs; orany other strategy reasonably designed to improve school performance or student academic achievement.
Funding received pursuant to each school Plan may not be used:
to supplant funding for existing education programs;for administrative costs;for capital expenditures.
Noah Webster Academy is a Title I School. These Federal funds are allocated to support scholar learning. The amount of funds received are based on the number of scholars who qualify for free lunch. The goal is to provide extra educational support to scholars who need it to succeed academically. These scholars are identified as "failing or most at risk of failing" to meet state academic standards. These services are supplemental (extra) to what every child already receives in the regular classroom.

Noah Webster Academy understands the importance of health and nutrition in a scholar’s day. We are committed to increase the focus of our scholars in regards to nutrition and physical activity. Our school has created a School Wellness Committee which will meet regularly to discuss the progress and needs of the school’s policy.
